LEVI’S JEANS DRIVE. DO GOOD, FEEL GOOD.
Now you can actively participate in our Buy Better, Wear Longer initiative. If you have jeans that you no longer wear, you can pass them on and give them new life. We will be running a jeans collection drive from September in partnership with Clothes To Good.
We are calling all conscious consumers to donate their pre-loved jeans (any brand) at one of our Levi’s® Stores. The jeans that are donated will be handed over to Clothes To Good, a social enterprise that is value centred, fully inclusive and a green ecosystem. They help to create employment for women in need in South Africa and in doing so ensure that jeans do not end up in landfills.
Among the organisation’s initiatives is its micro-business programme, which currently empowers 108 women – 56 of whom have children with disabilities – to become successful entrepreneurs in their communities by selling recycled, pre-loved clothes. Jeans that are not in a re-sellable condition are upcycled into new items including toys for children with disabilities.
By donating your pre-loved jeans you are helping to create a more circular economy and creating a sustainable fashion future.
Consumers that donate will be rewarded with a voucher for 20% off a new pair of Levi’s® jeans redeemable at a Levi’s® Store.
Fans in the Sandton area will then have the opportunity to purchase a limited-edition range of upcycled home and lifestyle products made from the Levi’s® donated jeans with proceeds going to Clothes For Good. Look out for the pop-up n Sandton City Mall, near the Levi’s® Store from the 28th of September to the 4th of October 2021.
Please support this initiative by visiting one of the following participating Levi’s® Stores – Waterfront, Century City, Cavendish, Tyger Valley, Sandton, Eastgate, Cresta, Clearwater, Fourways, Menlyn, Mall of Africa, Centurion, Mall of the North Polokwane, Gateway, Pavilion, I’langa (MP).
More about Clothes to Good.
Clothes to Good can responsibly recycle and up-cycle jeans through a fully inclusive green ecosystem. Their team are able to weigh, sort and categorise donated jeans.
This sorting process is guided by the European Union Waste Hierarchy for textile recycling and all Levi’s® apparel collected will be recycled on levels 1 – 4.
- – Any items that are re-usable in their current form will be used to help mothers of children with disabilities to start their own micro-businesses selling this product.
- – All jeans that cannot be re-used in their current form will be assessed for up-cycling. These items will be processed into Early Childhood development and disability specific toys/resources.
- – Additionally, we will be upcycling a portion of the donated denim into various Levi’s® home and lifestyle products to be sold at the Sandton pop up, with proceeds going to Clothes To Good.
